MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It was a proud and unexpected moment for Deon Booysen when it was announced that he had won first runner-up for the Police Reservist of the Year award at the Western Cape Police Excellence Awards in Cape Town on Saturday, 18 January.
Booysen is a reservist at the KwaNonqaba Police Station, but started as a reservist at Da Gamaskop Police Station 18 years ago.
"I did not expect to win first runner-up," he said.
"I was a little nervous and surprised. It was the first time I had won an award at provincial level. It was an honour for me," he said.
Booysen said being a reservist for the police is a passion for him, as he wants to make a difference in the community, fight crime and go the extra mile for the people living in the KwaNonqaba policing precinct.
