Update Video
MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Students on campus at South Cape TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) College in Mossel Bay turned aggressive today.
This follows students not receiving their bursary money on Friday.
Crews from the Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue were activated following a call that a structure behind the college was burning.
Upon arrival, the crew reported that the protest was still going on and that the fire originated from a drum that was set alight. No other damage to structures has been caused on campus today.
This morning, students attending classes were prohibited from doing so by protesters.
Police have been deployed to the scene and have engaged students during talks.
“Students are still sitting around and not attending classes,” journalist Jannie du Plessis of the Mossel Bay Advertiser reports.
