MOSSEL BAY NEWS - In some discussions and writings about the lockdown on social media, it has been suggested it could be a time of reflection, introspection and assessing one's life.
Some have said it is a time to become more creative and do things one has not had the time to do before.
A Christian creative arts academy in Mossel Bay, Arts in Christ, offers "prophetic art" classes, among other lessons. Arts in Christ falls under the Creare banner. Creare is a Christian arts and ministry academy with headquarters in Bloemfontein.
The Mossel Bay Advertiser spoke to Elanie Basson of Arts in Christ here in Mossel Bay to find out how people can be creative and "do" prophetic art at home during the lockdown.
Elanie suggests that if people wish to hear from the Lord in terms of prophetic art, they should "sit with the Lord and ask him for direction".
She said this direction could come either in the form of a scripture, some words or a picture they see in their imagination.
Decorate around it
This can be put down on a piece of paper or on canvas. As a suggestion, Elanie says: "You can write out the scripture boldly and decorate around it or draw the picture you see in your head."
Some people take a magazine and page through it. A picture of a rose, for example, might have significance for them. There are a number of references to roses in scripture. They can then cut out the rose and paste it on paper and develop their artwork further from that.
Elanie says one can ask the Lord what his directives or instructions are for this particular season.
Tercia Janse van Rensburg, who has been doing prophetic art for a year, said: "It is something for the whole family to do.
"You can discover who you are through prophetic art and what is so wonderful is that you discover your God-given talents."
Tercia said: "You walk a path with the Lord and you learn to recognise the Shepherd's voice."
She said she finds herself sitting for hours at an artwork and losing track of time. The process is extremely enjoyable. "You can't wait to get to the class; then you don't want to leave when it is over."
