MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Well-known former Icosa political party provincial leader and former Mossel Bay town councillor Dawid Kamfer passed away in the early hours of today, Saturday 26 April.
The cause of his death is not yet known to Mossel Bay Advertiser.
Kamfer was an energetic, outspoken politician, unafraid of tackling contentious issues and he fought for fair racial representivity.
He pointed out injustices and suggested ways to address them.
Fellow politician, Faizell Porter of the Patriotic Alliance, who also used to be a Mossel Bay town councillor, noted on Facebook today: "The voice for the destitute, struggling brown people in the Garden Route became silent.
"Dawid Kamfer, who fought for and defended our people since I became acquainted with him and way before then, has passed on...."
On the All Saints Anglican Parish Mossel Bay Facebook site, a notice about Kamfer's passing was posted under the headline, "Notice of death within Parish Community".
The parish expressed condolences to Kamfer's wife, Winifred, and their children.
Mossel Bay Advertiser will seek to interview colleagues and family of Kamfer in due course.
