MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality said it was aware of traffic delays on Louis Fourie Road during load shedding and that the contractor for the road upgrade had committed to implementing point duty during peak periods, amid load shedding.
According to the municipality traffic lights on Louis Fourie Road, prior to construction, were fitted with backup power systems.
However, during the construction period and due to the fluidity of the situation until the upgrade project is completed, some of the traffic lights will not be fitted with backup power systems.
"Since Louis Fourie Road is currently a construction site, it is thus handed over to the contractor, who, as part of the contract, is responsible for supplying pointsmen to regulate traffic flow, as and when needed.
"The Mossel Bay Municipality liaised with the contractor who has committed to implementing point duty during peak periods."
