MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Da Gamaskop Police have opened a culpable homicide docket after a pedestrian was hit by a minibus taxi in Essenhout Street in Heiderand, Mossel Bay, last night, 23 May.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said that according to information available at this stage, police were summoned to the scene at about 23:15.
The 57-year-old man had multiple injuries and he was declared dead at the scene by paramedics, Spies said.
"The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The owner of the taxi reported it to the Mossel Bay Police Station earlier today."
The vehicle driver is still at large and a search is under way.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and more information will be given as the investigation unfolds, Spies said.
