MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Gaatjie Neighbourhood Watch, operating in D’Almeida, Mossel Bay, was the recent recipient of patrol bicycles, donated by the Sonskynvallei Neighbourhood Watch, after realising it had a few extra bikes in their possession, which were not being used.
According to a post detailing the donation, which was shared to the Da Gamaskop Community Policing Forum’s official Facebook page, the Sonskynvallei Neighbourhood Watch originally received the bikes upon request from the Western Cape government.
Although the bikes have been put to good use, some of the bikes have not been used and “were collecting dust”.
Realising they had a few extra bicycles in their possession, the Sonskynvallei Neighbourhood Watch decided to donate the remaining bikes to the Gaatjie Neighbourhood Watch, to better assist their patrolling in the D’Almeida community.
Since the donation was received, the Gaatjie Neighbourhood Watch has also partnered with the SAPS Bicycle Patrol Unit to “strengthen visible policing and community safety in their area,” reads the post.
“This donation is a wonderful example of communities supporting one another. By sharing available resources, neighbourhood watches become stronger together, creating safer communities for everyone.”
