MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 38 year old man will appear in the Mossel Bay magistrate’s court today after he allegedly swam from Great Brak River to the Petro SA’s Orca platform, several kilometres off shore.
The man, who cannot be named until he has made his first court appearance, was found clinging to the base of the platform at around 04:30 yesterday morning.
He had to be treated for hypothermia and a police helicopter was sent to bring him back to shore yesterday afternoon.
The man will be charged under the National Key Points Act. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.
