MOSSEL BAY NEWS - It is with regret that the committee of the Mossel Bay Flower Show has decided that due to health and personal reasons, committee members will not be able to organise a show this year
The first show was held in 2004 in the Diaz Hotel and thereafter annually in the museum. It has grown over the years to include flower arrangements, bonsai and under Marie Lofty-Eaton's guidance, beautiful displays.
Last year's show was the largest yet and was enjoyed by all the participants, helpers, viewers and tourists. The Japanese touring groups seemed to photograph every flower.
The show is an asset for Mossel Bay, drawing visitors to the town and also it encourages a feeling of cooperation between groups in society, working towards a common goal.
The committee would like to thank the Friends of the Dias Museum who have made funds available for them to do the show, to the Dias Museum for making space available in their buildings and especially all the staff who every year work so hard. To the other sponsors and to all the volunteers who help so cheerfully, a hearty thank-you is extended from the flower show committee.
"If any group or society would like to stage a flower show or anything similar in future, we would be glad to give them assistance in any way," the committee announced. Feel free to contact Rita Blake (082 772 8030). "It would be a pity if this beautiful event comes to a complete halt."
The bonsai are a significant feature of the annual show.
