MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Surf Lifesaving Club's (MBSLC) own annual Nippers championships are taking place on Sunday, 18 March, from 12:00 to 15:00 at Dias Beach.
If you would like to see these future lifesavers in action, head down to the beach. There will be hamburgers on sale to help raise funds for the costs for the Nippers and lifesavers in the club to go to the SA Lifesaving Championships taking place in Port Elizabeth during the Easter holidays.
Burgers cost R20 and cooldrinks, R15. If you buy a burger and cooldrink, you only pay R30.
The Nippers, who are aged 14 years and under, have been practising three days a week for the championships.
They are used to practising together; now they will be competing against one another, which will be excellent practice for the champs.
The following events will take place on Sunday:
Beach events:
- Sprints, 60m
- Flags
- Long run, 400m for U8s and 1 000m for U10s to U14s
Sea events:
- Swim, 60m
- Run-Swim-Run
- Board event, 60m
If you would like to sponsor the Nippers competing in the national championships, which start on 1 April, call MBSLC secretary Kotie Bosman (071 866 3062). The MBSLC is a non-profit company.
