MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A new chief financial officer (CFO) has been appointed at Mossel Bay Municipality.
Selwyn Thys, who has had roles in financial leadership at Kouga and Nelson Mandela Bay municipalities, has taken up the position of CFO.
He replaces the former CFO, Orlando Fredericks, who left the municipality in September last year. Fredericks had been at the municipality since March 2021.
Mayor Dirk Kotzé announced the news of Thys’ appointment today, 5 May, welcoming him to the municipality.
He said Thys had “an impressive academic background, including a Master of Business Leadership Degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Financial Accounting”.
According to the mayor, together with Thys' wealth of experience at Kouga and Nelson Mandela Bay, “he is exceptionally prepared to steer the municipality’s financial affairs with skill and dedication”.
