MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Road users are being urged to take extra care on the N2 between George and Mossel Bay, where sand has been swept onto the road near Little Brak River.
The Mossel Bay Municipality issued a traffic alert at 08:00 on Wednesday 6 May. Provincial traffic is on the scene monitoring the situation, and motorists are advised to slow down and drive cautiously.
Meanwhile, the head of the Garden Route Disaster Management Centre, Gerhard Otto, says rain has been falling steadily across the Mossel Bay area.
“Conditions on the main routes remain calm and manageable, with traffic still flowing smoothly.”
Otto says a preparation channel has been set up at the Great Brak River estuary.
According to the South African Weather Service and local disaster management briefings, the rainfall in the Mossel Bay and Garden Route area for Wednesday is expected to be significant.
