MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Dive into the captivating world of marine exploration with Rian Jones, a seasoned adventurer and former lone inhabitant of Mercury Island. Renowned for his invaluable contributions to the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources in Namibia, Jones took center stage at the recent Marine Month event.

Jones, who gave the keynote address at the function, lived alone on Mercury Island while working for the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources in Namibia.
He collected data about and monitored marine life on and around the island. Jones recently featured on a kykNET programme on television, Laat wiel: Die Groot Niks, with actor Neil Sandilands.
