MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality confirmed in a news release today that it has received confirmation of the sentence that was handed down on its Chief Financial Officer, Mr Marius Botha in the Williston Regional Court.
The Municipality received confirmation on Friday, 1 September that Mr Botha was sentenced to an effective five (5) years imprisonment.
Acting on the advice received from Senior Counsel and the Municipality’s attorneys in this regard, Council today resolved at a Special Council Meeting to terminate Mr Botha’s employment in accordance with the contract he entered into at the time of taking up his employment with the Municipality.
The position of Chief Financial Officer will be advertised and filled in accordance with the relevant legislative prescripts.
