MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Instrumental magic will be happening when two, virtuoso, classically-trained and multi-award winning musicians join forces in the concert Flamboyant Strings which is being staged in Mossel Bay.
The duo, Dirkie van Staden (guitar) and Stefan Conradie (violin), will be presenting an evening filled with popular classical, Irish, Gypsy, Afrikaans, Kwela and Country music.
The audio-visual impact of what these two create with one violin and one nylon/steel-stringed guitar mesmerises and fascinates audiences.
They in fact don’t sound like a duo at all, but more like three or four musicians performing together - and they succeed in demonstrating the virtuoso technical possibilities of their instruments. Amongst a host of other hits, the programme will include Thunderstruck, Despacito, Volare, Cotton Eye Joe and O’ Sole Mio - like never heard before!
Dirkie (who left the popular CH2 duo in 2020 to focus on new projects), started the guitar and violin corporate-concept in 2007 and has since gone on to perform with some of the leading violinists in South Africa. With Stefan’s virtuoso passages and passionate melodies, joined by Dirkie’s lightning-fast rhythms and percussive guitar-playing, it promises to be an evening of undiluted entertainment - a must-see live act.
It will take place at the Dias Museum on Saturday 2 July at 19:30. Doors open at 18:30. Bookings, at R140, are essential and can be made with Abé Meintjes from ArtSpace (083 268 3718).
Bookings made and paid by 25 June qualify for the Early-Bird-Special of R120 per ticket.
