MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Due to Covid-19, the Miss and Mr KwaNonqaba community pageant took a new direction this year and was held online for the first time.
The crowning took place on Saturday, 15 August and was presented as being in honour of former Miss KwaNonqaba Naledi Phangindawo who died after she was attacked brutally in June.
The finalists carried out campaigns against women and children abuse, teenage pregnancies, human trafficking, depression and suicide and others.
Vuyolwethu Mfumbe, the event organiser, a committed youth developer and multiple pageant title holder, was a close friend of Phandingawo.
"Being an activist against gender-based violence, I have been very involved in Naledi's court case since June. The next court date is 27 September. We won't rest until we see justice prevail," Mfumbe says.
The next online pageant is Miss Heritage Mossel Bay. Anyone interested in entering can contact Vuyo (064 401 3751).
"A big thank you to those who sponsored our winners' prizes. You are great community members that we value and appreciate."
