MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Garden Route MOTH Motorcycle Association (MMA) will hold its Abandoned Babies Community Charity Event on 16 September at the Mossel Bay Aerodrome. It starts at 10:00.
This event follows the success of the one held in 2022.
While planning this year's event, the organisers were reminded of the community's generosity at the MMA's post-appreciation event. The MMA took the opportunity to honour last year's sponsors for their significant roles.
During this event, shoppers witnessed the compassionate nature of the biking community. Anthony Janse van Rensburg, liaison officer for the MMA, mentioned: "Not once did we explicitly ask for donations, yet the community understood the cause and returned from the shops with various baby necessities."
These gestures alone filled more than two shopping trolleys, he said.
The MMA has joined forces with the Mossel Bay Municipality and Mayor Dirk Kotzé to encompass the entire Garden Route community and transform this event into a themed gathering. The objective is to amplify donations for the welfare of abandoned babies in the Garden Route area, the motorcycle association noted.
To attract participants and foster a spirit of involvement, the MMA plans to judge the best-dressed "adult and youth babies" and reward them with valuable prizes worth thousands of rands.
Additionally, there will be food stalls, a beer tent, and a jumping castle to enhance the festive atmosphere.
Remaining true to their origins, the MMA is also catering to the biking community and will organise a mass ride from the Langeberg Mall at 10:30, ending at the Mossel Bay Aerodrome.
For further information contact Janse van Rensburg (082 467 3365). The entry fee for the event is R25 on the day, or you are welcome to make a donation in support of this cause.
