MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Six determined Mossel Bay open-water swimmers are set to take on the legendary 14km Kromme River Challenge in St Francis on 27 September.
Training in icy winter waters as low as 11°C and completing long build-up swims as with a 10km Goukou River session, the team, Jurie Zietsman, Nelmarie Broekhuizen, Lelané Muller, René van den Berg, Adri van der Merwe and Colleen Olivier, have shown remarkable resilience and teamwork.
As they face unpredictable currents, tides and winds, they carry the pride of Mossel Bay, inspiring the local community with their dedication.
Credit is also due to enthusiastic local swimming coach Bronwyn MacDonald, who skillfully managed the group’s weekly training programme.
