MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has launched its final public consultation process on the integrated development plan (IDP) and the draft municipal budget for the 2026/27 financial year, and is calling on residents to take part and have their say.
The IDP serves as the municipality’s five-year strategic plan, outlining key development priorities, infrastructure planning and service delivery goals.
The annual budget determines how funding will be allocated to implement these plans.
Public participation forms a critical part of this process and is required in terms of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act.
To make participation accessible, the municipality will host a series of walk-in one-on-one consultation sessions across all wards. These sessions will take place at community venues throughout the municipal area between 17:00 and 19:00.
Residents may attend any session most convenient to them, regardless of ward, and may submit oral or written comments with assistance from municipal officials on site.
In addition to the meetings, community surveys will be available at municipal offices, public libraries and selected spaza shops.
Assistance will be provided to residents who may require help completing the surveys.
The closing date for all comments and inputs is 30 April 2026 at 16:00.
Residents are encouraged to participate, as the IDP and budget directly influence how municipal resources are prioritised and how services are delivered across Mossel Bay.
