MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay is on the map yet again.A crew from the Kwêla TV programme, which is on kykNET, was in Mossel Bay in November.
Now an item on the town's Skipper Foundation will appear on Kwêla this Sunday, 26 January, at 18:00.
The foundation is a non-profit organisation started by sailing coach Elfie Holden. She was the principal of the Learn to Sail School in Mossel Bay, run under the auspices of the renowned Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
When the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club lost its tenancy of the yacht club building, Elfie started the Skipper Foundation to enable her to continue coaching children in sailing. She is the chair of the foundation and also the sailing coach.
Elfie told the Mossel Bay Advertiser: "Kwêla interviewed me, the children and the parents at the container at Santos Beach, from where the foundation operates. They also took footage of the children sailing."
So don't miss this item on the Skipper Foundation and the role it plays in the Mossel Bay community, giving children who would otherwise not be able to sail, free sailing lessons and a chance to have an exciting future as skippers, competitive sailors or as artisans in yacht and boat maintenance.
