MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two important Mossel Bay organisations received recognition and awards at the AHI Western Cape Gala Evening and Congress in Jongensfontein, Still Bay yesterday, 17 September.
The Mossel Bay Business Chamber was awarded AHI Chamber of the Year 2026 while the Mossel Bay Association of and for Persons with Disabilities (APD) won the AHI Special Chairperson's Award.
Founded in 1942, AHI (Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut) is a business organisation involved in many of the major sectors of the South African economy.
In a post on its Facebook page, AHI congratulated both the chamber and APD on their wins.
Of the chamber, AHI said it plays a valuable role in promoting local business, economic growth, and community development through strong leadership, collaboration, and support for entrepreneurs and enterprise.
“The success of a chamber of business is measured by the difference it makes in the community it serves, and the Mossel Bay Chamber of Business is an excellent example of this,” it said.
In response to receiving this award, the chamber posted on its page that it belongs to more than a committee.
“It belongs to our members, our local businesses, our partners and every person who continues to participate, collaborate, share ideas and support the work of the chamber.
“Our purpose has always been to create connections, encourage collaboration, represent the interests of business and contribute positively to the growth of Mossel Bay and our greater business community,” it said.
“We are incredibly proud – but even more importantly, we are excited about what comes next,” it said.
Of Mossel Bay APD, AHI said the award is a tribute to the incredible work it does every day to support and empower people with disabilities and to create new opportunities.
“Your dedication, compassion, and selfless service make a tangible difference in the lives of so many individuals and families...May this well-deserved award serve as recognition of the difference you make and as inspiration for many more years of excellent service.”
APD said it its own Facebook post that the award reflects the daily commitment of the team to support, empower and create opportunities for persons with disabilities and to promote greater inclusion in the community.
