MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay has had good rains since Thursday afternoon and chilly temperatures. The forecast for today is a maximum temperature of 16°C, with a low of 12°C.
More cool weather is expected tomorrow, with a high of 16°C forecast again.
The precipitation forecast for today is 12%, but 50% precipitation is forecast for tomorrow, so more rain is on the way.
The conditions are cloudy and misty today in Mossel Bay. There are significant swells in the bay, which is usually calm.
NSRI exercise
The NSRI Mossel Bay station was doing a joint exercise in the bay, off Santos and De Bakke beaches with the NSRI Wilderness station today.
Some members of the public contacted Mossel Bay Advertiser, asking if there was a rescue taking place, but it was only an exercise.
Mossel Bay has escaped serious rain and flood damage.
Uitenhage
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has reported deaths, people missing and rescues in the Uitenhage (now called Kariega) area.
An adult male and, a believed to be baby girl are deceased and four females remain missing in Kariega.
This morning the NSRI noted that at least up to 70 people had been safely removed to various mustering points in 55 rescue operations in the Kariega area.
Damage
The NSRI had to assist in Port Elizabeth and East London, where heavy rains occurred. In East London it involved boats, broken away from their moorings.
