MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The 14th Buffalo Rally certainly is a first. Not only will the Buffalo Rally this year take place in Hartenbos, but the mass ride route changes somewhat to include the communities of D'Almeida and Tarka.
The mass ride always evokes great excitement among locals. Every year hundreds of people, many from neighbouring towns, line the streets to admire the thousands of bikes as they proceed through town.
The riders enjoy the mass ride too, dressing up for the occasion and clubs go to extra effort to show off their club colours.
This year bikers will still depart at 11:00, although from the corner of Paardekraal and Majuba roads in Hartenbos. They will, therefore, take a little longer to reach the Point, depending on traffic on Louis Fourie Road.
The ride will progress on George Road, Bland Street and around the Point before they take to Marsh Street, a popular vantage point for spectators.
From Louis Fourie Road the motorcyclists will turn right at the Essenhout Street traffic lights and right into Bill Jeffery Avenue. Then they will proceed to the circle, where they will turn left into Mossel Street.
A bonus for the people of Kiewiet Street is that they will have front stoep seats of the procession as the bikers will pass them on their way to Stadium Street. From there they will go down Alhoff Drive, left into Eiland Street and left down De Bakke road before they make their way back to the ATKV Hartenbos festival arena.
