MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Dysselsdorp's Moonlight Football Club beat Mossel Bay's Sea Birds 4-2 in the annual Safa Eden Nedbank Cup final, held at the Extension 23 sports field in Mossel Bay on Sunday, 27 October.
The play-offs to see who would come out on top in this year's cup kicked off on Friday.
The Safa Eden Hollywood Bets regional teams squared off against one another to get to the finals, held on Sunday.
Vuyani Ndamase, the Mossel Bay Local Football Association (MOLFA) chair and the Safa Eden region committee chair said it was an exciting final game, which went to penalties after the teams had scored 1-1 at final time.
During the penalties, Moonlight clinched the win, the first for the team after it fought for eight years to play a semi-final and a final.
Ndamase said MOLFA hosted the local football association (LFA) competition this year and that the tournament rotates annually between the region's six LFAs under the Safa Eden president, Chris Tyhawana, coordinated by Gabriel Majola.
The six regions are Mossel Bay, Knysna, Hessequa, George, Plettenberg Bay and Oudtshoorn.
