MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Local talent Mof-Cando recently released his EP, complete with 10 tracks, titled Mpahlenkulu.
Mof-Cando told Mossel Bay Advertiser the EP was six years in the making. He said 'Mpahlenkulu' means a community builder, someone on whom the whole village relies, or a shoulder to cry on in isiXhosa.
"It took six years of trying to get to the final product, because a lot has happened along the way. The first project couldn't be dropped because our studio PC crashed. So we had to wait until we could get the studio running again," said Mof-Cando.
Despite this major setback, Mof-Cando dropped the EP on his birthday, 3 May.
"My sound is about real-life music, pain, hustle, growth, and loyalty. It is about changing lives. It should feel like a conversation every time you listen to it," he said.
When asked if he had a favourite track on the album, he said it was extremely difficult to choose.
"They are all part of my life experience, and to try and understand what others are going through ... but if I had to choose, it would be track number three, 'Pressure'," he said.
"We all go through pressure in life sometimes, but we have to try harder to get to the best outcome, because pressure creates diamonds and gold."
The EP contains Afropop music. You can find out about Mof-Cando and his EP by following him on TikTok and YouTube under the handle @Mof-Cando, on Instagram at @mof_cando and on Facebook on Mof-Cando, or on the Crystal Blaq Entertainment Facebook page.
