MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - On 10 June Charmi van der Walt (5) threw a message in a bottle in the sea at Hartenbos Beach.
Hartenbos Heuwels resident Nickey Ras found the bottle on the beach on 13 June. The sea washed it up near her feet.
Today, 27 June, Nickey made Charmi's request come true. Charmi had requested a skateboard and Nickey and sponsors handed over the skateboard. Charmi's brother, Kian, had also requested a skateboard.

Although his message in a bottle, wishing for a skateboard, has not been found that we know of, both children were given a skateboard, with accessories, plus vouchers for surf lessons at Surf's Up coaching school at Dias Beach.
Nickey Ras organised the skateboard and surf lessons from sponsors. The skateboards are extremely special. They are designed for children who want to surf, so that they will be more at home in the waves.
The children’s mom Elandri, helped them create the messages in bottles after the two had gone to a pirates and mermaids party and she had explained the concept of a message in a bottle to them.
When Nickey found Charmi’s bottle, she put a post on Facebook, saying she had found the bottle and Elandri contacted Nickey via the Facebook message.
Family and friends of the Charmi and Kian gathered at Dias Beach at 17:00 today for the handover, where there was great excitement. An exuberant Nickey, probably the most excited of all, encouraged all those present, saying: “Dreams do come true. Believe it.”
