MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The memorial service for Neill Calitz will take place this Saturday, 16 September, under the trees at the old Mossel Bay Yacht Club building.
It starts at 11:00 for 11:30. Those who attend will be invited to throw a pebble into the ocean in memory of Calitz.
There will be pebbles available, otherwise those who would like to write a special message on a pebble, or paint a pebble, are invited to do this and bring the pebble with them. More details are in the invitation alongside.
Calitz (76) passed away in Life Bay View Private Hospital after a short sickbed.
He was a long-time resident of Mossel Bay. Before his retirement, he was commander of the Mossel Bay Police Station in George Road, where he held the rank of a major. Calitz founded the Neill Calitz shooting club and was also involved in the pigeon racing club.
He is survived by his wife, the editor of Mossel Bay Advertiser, Suzette Herrer, daughter Adelita and three grandchildren, Luan, Anri and Neill du Toit.
