MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two cases of armed robbery in KwaNonqaba were reported this past weekend.
Police are also investigating whether the robberies may be tied to cases of armed robbery in Voorbaai and in the Da Gamaskop police precinct.
On Saturday, 6 July, at about 19:30, a shopkeeper in Sixaxeni Street in KwaNonqaba was wounded when three perpetrators, who arrived at the shop in a blue Toyota Tazz, entered and fired shots with a 9mm weapon.
One of the shots hit the shopkeeper, who was standing in front of the service counter of the shop. A cartridge was found on the scene.
The perpetrators then jumped over the shop counter and helped themselves to approximately R6 000 in cash and cartons of cigarettes.
Moments later another shop, this time in Adriaans Drive, was targeted, presumably by the same perpetrators who were dressed in balaclavas and overalls. In this instance again shots were fired, although no injuries were reported. Again the perpetrators fled with about R6 000 in cash.
In both cases the perpetrators used a Toyota Tazz. A vehicle matching the description was later found abandoned in Endlovini.
The investigating officers are sergeants Ndala and Kekaza (079 893 9947). Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
