KWANONQABA NEWS - The KwaNonqaba Police arrested a 37-year-old suspect on Saturday 21 February in connection with a house fire in Stuurman Street, Asla Park.
The incident occurred at about 16:00 on Wednesday 18 February.
According to Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, the KwaNonqaba Police’s spokesperson, the suspect allegedly approached a house that had five people inside at the time, poured some petrol out and set it alight.
One woman was injured in the fire. She is currently recovering in hospital.
Kapp said the suspect is known to some of the victims.
The circumstances behind the incident are not yet known and the investigation is ongoing.
The suspect will make his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court today, 23 February, and is facing a charge of attempted murder.
