MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man (43) whom the KwaNonqaba Police found to be in possession of ‘presumed stolen’ copper cables on Tuesday 29 July is expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court soon.
The KwaNonqaba Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said the station’s crime prevention unit had received information from the community that a man was allegedly stripping cables at a house in Dube Street, Asla Park.
He said the officers arrived to find the man in the process. He was vague in explaining where the cables had come from when he was questioned about it, and even tried to flee from the scene, but was caught and arrested.
He was expected to appear in court on a charge of possession of presumed stolen property today, 31 July.
“The KwaNonqaba SAPS management recognises the importance of having the support of the community and urges the members of the public to report crime in their areas,” said Kapp.
