MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services were called to put out several house fires in the greater Mossel Bay area on the night of Friday, 23 September, and the early hours of Saturday, 24 September.
Ten homes were destroyed in Asla Park. A man, Rafiki Singano (39), died in the fire. Several people were left homeless. This fire started at about 04:50 on Saturday.

There were two more fires, one in KwaNonqaba and the other in Great Brak River. No casualties were reported in those fires.
Mossel Bay mayor Dirk Kotzé visited the site of the razed homes in Asla Park on Tuesday, 27 September.
The mayor spoke to members of the community in order to understand what had happened.
He appeals to the Mossel Bay community to make donations of non-perishable foods and toiletries to the surviving victims of the fire.
Donations can be dropped off at Mossel Bay Fire and Rescue Services on the corner of Schoeman Street.
The mayor embarks on a community outreach every Tuesday to hear what the community needs and to ensure the council and municipality are kept abreast of how best to make a difference in communities.
On Tuesday, 27 September, he placed top priority on hearing the residents who suffered due to the blaze.
