MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Sandisile Neli (20), accused of the murder Hlumelo Hlungabeza (20) and the attempted murder of Hlungabeza's friend, has been denied bail.

Hlungabeza and her friend were walking along Dyabaza Street, KwaNonqaba just before 23:00 on 4 December when they were allegedly approached by Neli.

It is alleged that Neli stabbed Hlungabeza in the neck. He also allegedly stabbed her friend before fleeing the scene with cash, a wallet and a bank card that he allegedly stole from Hlungabeza's friend.

Hlungabeza was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical services. Her friend was rushed to hospital. The friend has since been discharged from the hospital, and wishes not to be named.

Neli last appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on 2 January where he was denied bail. He is set to make his next court appearance on 4 February. The matter was postponed for further investigation.
