EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - More than 300 educators from Eden and the Central Karoo district were thanked for their hard work and dedication to the task of educating the youth during an award ceremony on Monday.

Attended by, amongst others, the Education MEC for the Western Cape, Donald Grant, the Head of Education in the province, Penny Vinjevold, and Ms FVZ Rhoxo (Director), the event was held at the George Civic Centre.

These Long Service Awards were presented to educators who have been teaching for 20, 30 and 40 years respectively.
Minister Grant was responsible for the keynote address and Professor Christo Fabricius (Rector: Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) served as motivational guest speaker.

The ceremony’s opening was done by Pastor CD Spies, with Ms Vinjevold sharing a word of welcome with the honoured guests.

Entertainment was provided by Debby Williams, the Thembalethu Secondary School choir, and the George Secondary School Dance group.
