MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay's Got Talent 2018 competition started with a bang on Friday, 9 March, with some promising young artists strutting their stuff during the auditions held at the community hall in Great Brak River.
The judges for this new season are Keenan Daniels, Alicia van Wyk, Kay Gody, Romeo Wagner, Petronel Baard and Adrian London.
Great Brak River definitely showed noteworthy talent. Nine items were selected to go to the semi-finals. This showdown takes place on Saturday, 2 June at the Bravo Lounge, Garden Route Casino.
All the participants shone, but rapper Major's item and Stacey's singing talent deserve special mention.
Spoken word artist Lluyle's rendition of his own poem was also a highlight. The semi-finalists from the Great Brak auditions are Lluyle, Major, Stacey, Rennique, Aeo, D-Tronix, Sharif and Refrecs.

16 March – Brandwag
13 April – D'Almeida Community Hall
20 April – KwaNonqaba Community Hall
27 April – Indoor Sport Centre
4 May – Asla Park Community Hall
11 May – Mossel Bay Town Hall
Registration starts at 16:00 on these dates and auditions at 19:00.
There is no entry fee. Entry forms are available from all local libraries, municipal offices, Great Brak River Youth Café, Thusong Centre and the youth office at the Indoor Sport Centre in Sampson Street, Extension 23.
More than a talent show
The aim of the competition is to create a platform for young artists to showcase their talent. It also serves to present an alternative to the typical social ills plaguing local youth.
Young people from 14 and 35 years, who are residing in the Mossel Bay area, are invited to audition.
There is no entry fee. Entry forms are available from all local libraries, municipal offices, Great Brak River Youth Café, Thusong Centre and the youth office at the Indoor Sport Centre in Sampson Street, Extension 23.
The competition consists of three categories, namely singing, dancing and an open category (rap, poetry, musicians, drama and more). The grand prize up for grabs in each category is R10 000.
The Mossel Bay's Got Talent finale is held on 16 June in the Mossel Bay Town Hall starting at 12:00.
