MOSSEL BAY NEWS - All the police stations in the greater Mossel Bay area made the provincial top 30 list for registered crimes.
The South African Police Service has released its second quarter (July to September) crime statistics from all police stations in the country.
KwaNonqaba Police Station made the Westerm Cape provincial top 30 list in seven categories, Da Gamaskop Police Station in five categories, Great Brak River in three and Mossel Bay Police Station in two.
These figures indicate where each police station came out of the whole of the police stations in the Western Cape province for the particular crime.
KwaNonqaba
• 16th in the Western Cape province for stock theft
• 21st - driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• 21st - rape
• 26th - burglary at a residential premises
• 26th - sexual offences
• 28th - shoplifting
• 29th - sexual assault
Da Gamaskop
• 2nd - robbery of a cash-in-transit vehicle (only one case reported)
• 6th - driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• 23rd - robbery at a residential premises
• 25th - neglect and ill treatment of a child
• 30th - commercial crime
Great Brak River
• 12th - neglect and ill treatment of a child
• 15th - stock theft
• 21st - culpable homicide
Mossel Bay
• 22nd - driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• 24th - shoplifting.
Mossel Bay Police Station showed an increase in reported commercial crimes, burglary at residential premises, contact-related crimes, malicious damage to property, sexual assault, common robbery and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).
KwaNonqaba had increases in reported assault with intent to do GBH, sexual offences, rape, robbery at residential premises, theft of a motor vehicle/motorcycle, stock theft, commercial crime and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Great Brak River had increases in reported assault with intent to do GBH, robbery at residential premises, stock theft and driving under the influence of alcohol and, or, drugs.
Da Gamaskop had increases in attempted murder cases, assault with intent to do GBH, sexual offences, common robbery, rape, robbery at residential premises, cash-in-transit robberies, arson, commercial crimes, drug-related crimes, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
