LITTLE BRAK RIVER NEWS - The breaching of the Little Brak River mouth will start on Friday morning, 28 May. The Mossel Bay municipality says in a statement the work will start at about 07:30 and end at approximately 15:00.
The parking area at Little Brak's main beach will be off-limits to the public for the duration of the work to allow for the safe movement of heavy machinery.
Danger tape will be placed at the operational area at the river mouth. The public is requested not to venture past the danger tape.
"Onlookers are requested to stay away from the operations at the river mouth. Covid -19 lock-down regulations prohibit the gathering of large numbers of people. Please do not gather on the beach in numbers," says municipal spokesperson, Nickey le Roux.
Le Roux says officials of Cape Nature and the Department of Fisheries will be present to ensure that there is no illegal catching of fish during and after the breach.
