EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - The total area affected by the fire in the Ruiterbos area is 6 000 hectares.
In the Albertinia area, the total area affected is 27 000 hectares.
Currently, the Albertinia fire stretches over a 30km x 10km area in a mountainous area. Mountainous areas are difficult to reach by foot.
Once the fire is accessible to ground teams, active firefighting will commence.
The majority of work being done involves mopping-up operations.
A fire is active in the Mooihoek area and firefighters may start a back-burn to stop the spread of the approaching fire.
