MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Janél Kruger was spotted, strolling up Church Street, wearing an ethereal chiffon kaftan in pastel ice cream colours, and exuding wafts of perfume.
She is the subject of this latest article in the series on Mossel Bay style icons which have been published over the past few months in the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
On the day she was spotted, Janél was wearing green and gold framed spectacles, which matched her kaftan. On the neckline of the kaftan are sparkly metallic dots. Janél bought the kaftan at a Chinese shop and has another one similar to it, which she mixes and matches with skirts or trousers.
Besides Chinese stores, she shops at quality clothing chain stores and a boutique in town.
Janél, who is an attorney, admits: "I don't dress like a lawyer." She is not at all the "suited and booted" type.
She teams her flowing outfits with bold neckpieces and earrings. She has a tattoo on her shoulder and colours her hair a pink-plum tone.
Cropped, spiky hairstyle
With her delicate face, she is able to carry off a cropped, spiky hairstyle.
Overall, her style is uncluttered and bold, but extremely feminine.
Janél says someone once asked her about her style of dress: "Why do you have to stand out so much? Why do you have to be controversial and different?"
In reply, she said: "I don't try to be controversial and different. It's just that the clothes which I enjoy, one would not associate with my profession."
Speaking about her clothing choices and unique "stand out" style, Janél says: "I feel comfortable in loose fitting clothes like a kaftan and I am inspired by traditional, ethnic Indian wear.

"I have a weakness for material with dots and it will always catch my eye when I am shopping.
"I do have denim jeans in my closet, but will always choose a pair with a boot leg to wear with high platform shoes, simply because they suit my shape the best."
Janél picked up these earrings and the necklace at a craft market. They match the floral trousers and pink top perfectly.
