KWANONQABA NEWS - Lieutenant Colonel Virgie Julius, the KwaNonqaba Police Station’s commander, writes:
As we usher in the new year, I would like to extend warm greetings to all members of our community.
The beginning of a new year offers us an opportunity to reflect on the past year and to renew our collective commitment to building safer, stronger and more resilient communities.
On behalf of the KwaNonqaba SAPS management, I thank you for your cooperation, support and partnerships throughout the year that has passed.
As you celebrated with family and friends, I believed everyone did so responsibly; you obeyed the law and avoided reckless behaviour.
This was reflected in our crime stats that showed a downward trajectory in contact and violent crimes in the months leading up to the festive season. We thank you all for this.
We trust that we shall continue to fight crime together in 2026 and strengthen our relationships.
Please remember that the safety of others is just as important as your own.
Let us all say no to drinking and driving, acts of violence and any conduct that places lives at risk.
As the little ones start their schooling careers, let me take a moment and spare a thought for the Grade 12 learners of 2025, who are awaiting their matric results.
This is a very stressful time for many young people, and we urge families to be supportive of our youth.
Our police station has capable and competent personnel to assist with giving guidance and referring any person who faces depression and stress in these times for mental health support.
The KwaNonqaba Police remain fully operational and committed to protecting life and property.
We will continue to act decisively against criminality while working hand in hand with our CPF, community structures, faith-based organisations and all stakeholders who share the vision of a peaceful society.
May the new year bring hope, unity and renewed determination to work together against crime. Let us move forward with respect for the law and care for one another.
I wish you and your loved ones a safe, prosperous and peaceful new year.
