MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The arrival of the festive season on the Garden Route was met with some despondency due to the beach ban, but it is hardly doom and gloom for all.
Many pets are surely thrilled to have their owners at home more than usual.
However, some animals find themselves in a dire situation. Gerda Reynders from the Garden Route SPCA says that this time of year, the SPCA takes in many animals given up for adoption.
Therefore, pet food and other necessities are sorely needed at the SPCA and donations are most welcome. Call the SPCA on 044 693 0824.
"Walking your dog in the early morning or afternoon is preferable, to prevent it getting heatstroke. Also, do not take dogs to malls and leave them in the car on hot days," Reynders cautions.
She reminds residents and visitors that fireworks are strictly prohibited in the Mossel Bay municipal jurisdiction.
