MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay Municipality would like to point to some of the important implications of the regulations for the Phase Four National Lockdown in effect since 1 May.
- The Level 4 Lockdown Regulations repeal the Level 5 Lockdown Regulations, although the directives issued in terms of the Level 5 Lockdown Regulations remain effective until replacement directives are issued. Legal action and criminal charges under the Level 5 Lockdown Regulations continue to be enforced and prosecuted, where necessary.
- All persons who perform essential services must be issued with a new document - an example is available on page 29 of the new regulations. The new document must include both the home address and the work address, in addition to the personal details of the person performing an essential service. This document must always be available.
- Wearing face masks will be mandatory from the moment a person leaves the house. The regulation requires that the masks be made of cloth, and no further specifications apply to the type of material to be used.
- Residents may exercise daily, although not in groups or as part of organised sports. Exercise times are strictly from 06:00 to 09:00, and no exceptions are allowed. The common areas of residential complexes are not allowed for exercise. No one may walk or jog along the sea, beaches are still out of bounds, although subsistence fishermen will be allowed. Face masks are compulsory also when exercising.
- All residents must strictly obey the evening curfew from 20:00 until 05:00 the next morning. Law enforcement officers strictly enforce this rule. The only exception applies to persons performing an essential service - and only to the extent that these persons move between their home and workplace - as well as in cases of a medical emergency or when residents would respond to a security company's emergency signal at their businesses.
- Home Affairs offices are operational for some services.
- Cigarettes and tobacco products, as well as alcoholic beverages, are prohibited. Please note that these products may not be transported either.
- Home industries and institutions strictly selling home industry products are not allowed.
- Persons who stayed elsewhere during the Stage 5 Lockdown and who, in terms of Stage 4 Lockdown regulations must travel to Mossel Bay to start work again, require both the new permit for essential workers and proof of employment/appointment.
- People may return to their permanent address if they were away from home during the Phase 5 Lockdown. The person must be able to provide a proof of address such as a municipal account.
- Moving to a new house/ between residences are not allowed in terms of the new Phase 4 regulations.
- Neither Nurseries nor garden services are allowed in terms of the new regulations
