MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare Train will be in Mossel Bay, offering services to the public from Monday to Friday, 19 to 23 August, and also the next week, from Monday to Friday, 26 to 30 August.
The train will be positioned at the railway stop at the Mossel Bay harbour.

A healthcare clinic is offered. Free healthcare services offered include:
• Healthcare education
• A complete physical assessment
• Cancer treatments
• Pap smear
• Prostate cancer testing (PSA blood test).
With regards to these services, you pay R5 for the entire script of medicines.
The train also offers an eyecare clinic and services include:
• Free eye tests
• Spectacles - R30. The eye clinic does not issue bi-focal lenses.
• Eye drops - R5
Note: The eye clinic does not offer eye operations.
Counselling and psychology clinic:
These services include:
• One-on-one sessions
• Workshops targeting schools, communities, workers, teachers
• Topics covered include leadership, drug and alcohol abuse, sexuality and tools to deal with physical and emotional abuse
Dental clinic
• Free screening and education
• Extract and clean teeth - R10
All the health services are free for children 15 years and younger.
All services are offered on a first come, first served basis. Bring your clinic card and child's immunisation certificate.
The train opens at 08:00 and closes at 14:00. Each patient will be issued with a sticker when they arrive.
On the sticker will be a number and the kind of service required, such as healthcare clinic or dental and so forth. When you get your sticker, you then wait at the train until the number on your sticker is called out.
It is advised that you get to the train early - 07:00 - to queue to get your sticker.
Also, do not arrive at the train at the last minute in the afternoon and expect to be served. The train will close promptly at 14:00, so you must allow enough time before 14:00 to be attended to.
