MOSSEL BAY NEWS - National voter registration weekend for the 2026 local government elections has arrived.
If you haven't already registered to vote online, visit the Electoral Commission of South Africa's (IEC) website to find out where you can go in person to register on 20 and 21 June.
"Whether you're a 16-year-old registering for the first time in preparation for your first vote at 18, a young voter ready to make your mark, or a seasoned citizen continuing to shape the future of your community, this opportunity is for you," the IEC recently posted on Facebook.
And when it comes to voters already registered in the Western Cape, on 16 June, the numbers reached just over three million.
The IEC's website has in-depth statistics on the demographics of voters in the province, by age and by gender, as well as how many voters are registered in each municipality.
The total number of voters in Mossel Bay Municipality is 74 406, contributing just over 2% of all registered voters in the province.
The age group with the smallest amount of registered voters in the province is 18-19 with 10 816 men and 16 275 women. The group with the largest amount of registered voters is 30-39 with 346 385 men and
400 864 women.
Altogether, 1 461 500 men are registered in the Western Cape and 1 842 363 women.
