MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Police are on the hunt for five suspects, after they allegedly robbed a shop in Hartenbos at gunpoint.

“We were alerted to the incident, and one of our armed response vehicles was dispatched to the shop (on Kaap de Goede Hoop Road) to offer assistance to the owner and his staff. Our other vehicles joined the widespread search for the suspects, who had by that time fled the scene,” says Pieter Meiring, Garden Route branch manager for Fidelity ADT.

According to witnesses, the entire robbery played itself out in barely two minutes. The suspects had entered the shop, and pointed a gun at the owner. 

They demanded cash and cigarettes, and fled while also taking a cellphone with them. No one was injured during the robbery.

“The getaway vehicle was later discovered abandoned in KwaNonqaba, and the suspects are still at large. If anyone has any information about this incident or the whereabouts of the suspects, please make contact with the SAPS,” says Meiring.
