MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Because of hard work and thorough investigation, two investigating officers from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Mossel Bay ensured sexual offenders received lengthy jail sentences.
In the first case Sergeant Ntobeko Nogcinisa investigated a kidnapping and rape that occurred on 10 November 2018.
The incident took place in KwaNonqaba when the 37-year-old victim was walking home. The accused, Vuyisile Manyakanyaka and Thembalethu Makhaluse, forced the victim into a shack, where they took turns raping her.
Manyakanyaka was sentenced in the Mossel Bay Regional Court to 24 years' direct imprisonment and Makhaluse was sentenced to 10 years' direct imprisonment.
In the second case, Warrant Officer Soretha van Zyl investigated a case of the accused, Bradley Antonie, who raped a 26-year-old mentally disabled man in December 2018.
The incident took place near the traffic lights at the corner of Flora Road and the R102, at the entrance to Dana Bay.
Shortly before the incident, Antonie was in prison for another offence. He was out on parole for six days when he raped the victim. Van Zyl worked around the clock to get Antonie arrested and put behind bars effectively for 25 years.
