MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - A television crew from Germany came specially to Mossel Bay this week to film parts of the town and speak to people as part of a production about a family reunion.
The film centres on a German man, looking for long lost family members.
A Mossel Bay Advertiser article online helped to locate one of his family members in Mossel Bay. She was one of the winners of a sports event.
The editor of the production company told the Advertiser: "We will be filming in Mossel Bay on Wednesday, 9 March.
"The story is about a family reunion across the continents and two of our protagonists happen to take part in sport a great deal in and around Mossel Bay."

The editor referred to the Advertiser article.
She then asked the Advertiser: "Would you please not mention by name the people we are looking for?
We'd like to surprise the German counterpart of the family with the fact that we found their South African family and I'm afraid they could read your article and find out about everything before the big surprise and the reunion, planned for about 31 March. Please don't mention our production company and my name either," the editor asked.

As part of the filming, the crew popped into the Advertiser offices at 9 Church Street and interviewed the news editor, Cornelle Carstens, because of the Advertiser's article which helped locate the family members.
The film team also wanted to discuss Mossel Bay's reputation of being an international sports destination, with the Ironman competition in town later this year and the town being host to the annual Pioneer Trek cycle race and various other contests.
"Our protagonists will be involved in these types of events. This would add a deeper and simply amazing touch to our film," the editor said.
After filming at the Advertiser offices, the crew went to the Mossel Bay Tourism office to interview chief operational officer Aneli Gerber about Mossel Bay's high-profile sport events.
It also filmed landmarks in Mossel Bay. The film team went to Cape Town as part of tracing family members. The film will culminate in the Mossel Bay family member being invited to Germany for the "big happy ending", the production company editor said.
The major company, known to the Advertiser, creates highly popular TV productions in Germany in a variety of genres.
