MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The first 100 spekboom trees were planted yesterday, 15 July, at the municipal Hartenbos water treatment plant as part of an ongoing initiative to enhance the plant.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) donated 100 trees to the Mossel Bay Municipality.
Dick Naidoo, the director of Infrastructure Services at the municipality, said he is extremely excited about the project and thanked everybody involved.
“We get complaints about the odour from time to time and I have been told that the spekboom have a filtration effect,” said Naidoo.
He said the municipality looked forward to working together with the DFFE to plant more trees in the future and surround the plant with trees.
