MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Eight informal dwellings were burnt to the ground in a fire near Dube Street in Asla Park, Mossel Bay, on Monday, 18 November.
Mossel Bay Municipality stated that Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services responded to reports of a fire in that area just after 17:00.
"Eight wood and iron structures and the contents were completely destroyed in the fire," the municipality noted.
It stated that a total of 17 individuals lost their homes. The municipality said the 17 people included 10 adults, three teenagers and four younger children.
The KwaNonqaba Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairman, Shadrack Shishana, said those willing to assist the displaced families with any donations of food, clothing or furniture, can contact him (084 911 7379).
They can also call the KwaNonqaba Police Station (044 606 5600) and ask to speak to the CPF's deputy secretary, Cynthia Nofemele, or Sergeant Salomé Marais, who is the station's social crime prevention officer, gender-based violence coordinator and the station's victim-friendly room coordinator.
