MOSSEL BAY NEWS - At a meeting hosted by the Mossel Bay Local Aids Council on World Tuberculosis Day, it was emphasised that issues such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and gender-based violence remain a stark reality, despite Covid-19 having taken centre stage during the past two years.
A focus group will meet on 21 April to discuss issues and draw up a strategy to address them.
The session will take place at the lapa of the Mossel Bay Youth Centre.
The issues for discussion include:
- Default (ARV and TB treatment)
- TB infection rate increased
- No referral system of services
- Substance abuse and the effect on HIV/AIDS treatment
- Teenage pregnancies
- Lack of support for teenaged pregnant mothers
