MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Soon Mossel Bay motor enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness a mass ride of at least 26 Lamborghinis when the Lamborghini SA club visits town on 22 August.
Project coordinator Gys van Staden of Mossel Bay says plans are well advanced to bring the superfast vehicles to Mossel Bay as part of the visit to the Southern Cape and Klein Karoo.
This is merely the prelude to more exciting events that are planned for 2020, such as a proper Daytona that will take place from 27 March to 3 April and will pass Mossel Bay en route from East London to Cape Town. The Rogue Rally, planned for 30 April next year will see at least 50 different super vehicles compete in an event never before witnessed in town. The Lamborghinis, however, will be showcased to motorsport enthusiasts in a mass ride that will offer the opportunity to at least 20 locals to also take a ride in the super cars. The club will be running a competition that will benefit the ACVV senior citizens' homes and the winners will be welcomed as passengers along a part of the mass ride through town.

At this stage it is planned the drivers will leave Pinnacle Point Estate, where they will be staying over, at approximately 16:30 on 22 August.
The drivers will be escorted through town, with an opportunity for enthusiasts to see the cars, all of which cost in excess of R1m, when they cruise down Mayixhale Road, Bill Jeffery Road, the N2 to Langeberg Mall and Louis Fourie Road to George Road, where they will stop at De Bakke. Competition winners will then be able to drive with the vehicles on their way to the Point, where again an opportunity for photos will be available. The vehicles will then depart along Marsh Street and up the hill past the municipality before they make their way to the Aeronautica Club, where the drivers will meet for supper.
The 26 Lamborghinis parked off George Road should be quite a spectacle.
"The most expensive vehicle showcased in Mossel Bay is in excess of R14 million," Van Staden told the Mossel Bay Advertiser.
The club welcomes photographers who wish to take pictures of the super cars. For more information, contact Gys van Staden (gys@nicore.co.za).
